Meet Lainey
Lainey Gaetano (they/she)
Advanced Neuromuscular Therapist, Owner
Lainey became a massage therapist in 2012 as a transitional “plan B” after leaving college. Wanting to spend some time outside of academia, she went to massage school thinking it would be fun to work in a spa and drink cucumber water all day while figuring out what she really wanted to do as a career. Surprisingly, massage and bodywork stole her heart quite quickly and she knew this detour was the path in disguise. Looking back, she now can’t imagine doing anything else with her life.
After finishing the initial 900 hour CORE program at the National Holistic Institute in San Jose, California, she continued with their 450 hour Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy program, further deepening her love for the human body and working with people in chronic pain. After graduation, she began working in both wellness clinics and spas, savoring the cucumber water with a fresh outlook and ignited passion.
In 2018, Lainey moved to Vermont and started Vermont Full Body Wellness with the help of a dear friend. She loves being able to work closely with her clients and see the long term changes that take place in their bodies and minds through consistent bodywork. She credits the success of her sliding scale and scholarship based practice to the community values she associates with Vermont towns. She considers herself extremely lucky to live somewhere that sees the value in accessibility and equitable care.
Lainey believes in holistic care when it comes to chronic pain. She not only looks at the source of pain in the physical body but also the associated context and emotions relating to that pain. She believes that since pain is created in the brain, addressing the nervous system and how the brain perceives the body is an integral part of addressing tension and discomfort in a sustainable, lasting way. Throughout her career, she has noticed that taking the whole person into account helps fill in the gaps that are sometimes found in more body-focused massage sessions and allows her to work on a deeper level.
In 2022, Lainey became a certified yoga teacher through Evolution PT and Yoga. Deepening her own practice, she now teaches both public and private yoga classes in the Burlington area. She is excited to bring a movement practice to her clients to help ease discomfort and create space in both body and mind.
